HIDE TANNING

Immediately after killing the animal, in order to avoid degradation processes in the tissues, the skin is salted, dried or refrigerated before the production process of tanning starts. Skins are salted with common marine salt, which penetrates very quickly into the fibers, to partially remove water.

Salt-Away is an excellent product to wash the salt off the equipment used for the salting process. It helps prevent rusting and corroding of the equipment, and by moving the salt off the equipment and flushing it down a drain, it reduces the amount of salt transferred from one location to another to avoid contamination.

Salt-Away is also effective in removing salt from trucks that transport tanned pelts to manufacturing facilities.
